Advanced Menu Item Reporting

Item Reporting gives the ability to accurately track food/product costs and it is priceless to any serious restaurateur or restaurant group. This example will provide a case of how to use the reporting to accurately track Menu Items that are prepared in large batches and are normally tracked in overall volume, rather than individual sales.

Scenario: Craft brewery makes and sells their own product onsite via a taproom. They offer many varieties of beer that can be served in Tulips, Mugs and Pints, as well as Flights. Setting these options up correctly will allow the end user to capture the reporting data from the sales in a clean way. If twoMenu Items have the same Name, the data will report together.

Reporting for Beer Brewed Onsite

In this example, we will attach a price to the specific Modifiers for the types of serving glasses used to serve the Menu Items (craft brews). That way the restaurant owner can view the ways in which their product is being sold.

1. Create Modifier Group For more information regarding Modifier Groups, click here
2. Create Modifier(s) In this example, the Modifiers will be the types of serving glasses, i.e., Pint, Mug, Tulip, etc.. 3. Attach the newly created Modifier Group to the new Modifier(s) For more information regarding Modifiers click here
4. Create Modifier Option In this instance, we use a dash ( - ) as the Modifier Option name because the Modifier Option’s name in the FOH is the Modifier created in the step above Be sure to add the Modifier Option to the newly created Modifier Group 5. Return to the newly create Modifiers (the serving glasses) and set the Price for each in the Standard Option, i.e., perhaps the tulip is $8 and the pint is $10 For more information regarding Modifier Options, click here
6. Create Menu Item(s) and set the Standard Price to $0.00 Info The reason the price is set at $0.00 is because the type of glass will determine the price of the drink. Each serving glass type will have a Modifier with a Price attached, i.e., price for Tulips vs price for Pints However, if a certain craft brew is more expensive, you may add the difference in cost to the Menu Item pricing and it will be added to the Modifier price for a final, higher price. 7. 8. Check the Rollup Pricing checkbox	Image Added
9. Verify the Menu Item and correct Modifiers can be selected in the FOH	Image RemovedImage Added

Reporting for Flights

In this example the number of Sub Items (beers) in the flight option will determine the price. We will create a Menu Item Group, in which there will be two Flight Menu Items: 4 or 6 beer flights. The flights will be priced accordingly, and the beer choices will be attached as a Sub Items Group. This will allow the restaurant owner additional insight into how their product is being sold.
