Settings Menu

From the Settings page there are several options to customize the The Settings menu has several customization options for SpotOn Terminal and transactions. There are options to set up: Tax, Tips, Cash Discount, Convenience Fee, Signature, and Device Handoff Dialog. The current configuration of each Settings section displays below each option on the Settings MenuPayment Types, and Card Reader.


Tax Settings

When the Apply Taxes option is On, the specified tax rate will be applied to all transactions by default. Taxes can be toggled on or off for each transaction in the Terminal.

  1. Tap the Menu button in the upper left corner

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Tax to viewTax Settings

  4. Toggle the Apply Tax button to switch Tax On/Off

  5. Set the appropriate Tax % amount

  6. Select Standard Rounding or Always Round Up

    • Standard Rounding- Rounds to the nearest whole cent. Values of half a cent ($0.005) or more round upward. Values less than half a cent round downwards.

    • Always Round Up- Always rounds any value less than a cent upwards to the next whole cent.

  7. Tap

Tips Settings

When the Accept Tips option is turned On customers will be given the option to leave a tip when completing the transaction. Tip options will include: none, a custom amount, and three preset percentages.

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Tips

  4. Toggle the Accept Tips button to switch Tips On/Off

  1. Input the desired Tip Amounts, i.e., 15%, 18%, 20%, etc

    • When the Accept Tips option is toggled On, the customers will be given the option to leave a Tip. They can select none, one of three the set amounts, or they can choose to enter a custom Tip amount.

  2. Tap Apply Changes

  3. A confirmation pop-up will appear

  4. Press Continue to apply the changes

Cash Discount Settings

Choose between Cash Discount setting options in SpotOn Terminal.

  3. Select Cash Discount

  4. Select Credit Retail Prices or Cash Retail Prices

  5. Tap Apply Changes

  6. A confirmation pop-up will appear

  7. Press Continue to apply the changes

Convenience Fee Settings

To make any changes to Convenience Fees, please contact Customer Support at (877) 814-4102 or email support@spoton.com

The convenience fee will be applied to all transactions when activated.


Signature Settings

When the signature settings are On, there is the option to require a signature for all card transactions, or just those over $20.

  3. Select Signature

  4. Use the Require Signature switch to toggle the Signature requirement On/Off

    • If Require Signature setting is On, select For transactions over $20 or Always

  5. Tap

Device Handoff Dialog Settings

When the Device Handoff Dialog option is turned On the customer will be prompted to return the SpotOn Terminal to you when the card transaction is complete. There will be no prompt if it is a cash transaction.

Payment Types Settings

  • This will display on email and printed receipts

  • An example of this feature in use would be the business’s return policy

  • This feature is only available on the SpotOn Terminal / SpotOn Sidekick with version 1.5.7

Device Handoff Dialog
  • Toggle Prompt customer to return device switch to turn prompt On/Off

  • Tap Save

  • Receipt Message

    The SpotOn Terminal allows for custom footers to be created for email receipts and printed receipts. This applies to the SpotOn Terminal / SpotOn Sidekick only, and the terminal must be updated to version 1.5.7.
