Settings

Before processing your first transaction the SpotOn Mobile Payments settings should be configured appropriately for your business needs. The settings are accessed through the menu icon in the upper left corner.

Signature Required

This setting gives the option to require a customer to sign to complete a transaction.

  1. Tap the Menu button in the upper left corner

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Require Signature

  4. Choose an option:

    • Always

    • Over $20

  5. Tap Apply Changes

    • A popup will display asking to confirm changes, tap Continue

  6. Tap the back arrow to return to Settings

Tax

Tax Settings

When the Apply Taxes option is On, the specified tax rate will be applied to all transactions by default. Taxes can be toggled on or off for each transaction in the Terminal.

  1. Tap the Menu button in the upper left corner

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Tax to viewTax Settings

  4. Toggle the Apply Tax button to switch Tax On

to apply a custom tax to your transactions
  • In the Tax Rate field input the default tax percentage

  • Tap Apply Changes

    • A popup will display asking to confirm changes to setting, tap Continue to save

  • Tap the back arrow  to return to Settings

  • Tips
    1. /Off

    2. Set the appropriate Tax % amount

    3. Select Standard Rounding or Always Round Up

      • Standard Rounding- Rounds to the nearest whole cent. Values of half a cent ($0.005) or more round upward. Values less than half a cent round downwards.

      • Always Round Up- Always rounds any value less than a cent upwards to the next whole cent.

    4. Tap Apply

    5. A confirmation pop-up will appear

    6. Tap Continue to apply the changes


    Tips Settings

    When the Accept Tips option is turned On customers will be given the option to leave a tip when completing the transaction. Tip options will include: none, a custom amount, and three preset percentages.

    2. Select Settings

    3. Select Tips

    4. Toggle

    On to allow customers to leave preset tips, as well as Custom or NoneIn the Preset Tips fields, input the desired preset tip percentages
    1. the Accept Tips button to switch Tips On/Off

    2. Input the desired Tip Amounts, i.e.,

    10%
    1. 15%,

    15%
    1. 18%, 20%, etc.

      • When the Accept Tips option is toggled On, the customers will be given the option to leave a Tip. They can select none, one of three the set amounts, or they can choose to enter a custom Tip amount.

  • Convenience Fee & Cash Discount

    2. Press Continue to apply the changes


    Cash Discount Settings

    Choose between Cash Discount setting options in SpotOn Terminal.

    3. Select Cash Discount

    4. Select Credit Retail Prices or Cash Retail Prices

    5. Tap Apply Changes

    6. A confirmation pop-up will appear

    7. Press Continue to apply the changes

    Convenience Fee Settings

    Note

    To make any changes to Convenience Convenience Feesor Cash Discount, please contact Customer Support at at (877) 814-4102 or email support@spoton.com

    The convenience fee will be applied to all transactions when activated.

     


     

    Signature Settings

    This setting gives the option to require a customer to sign to complete a transaction.

    Card Reader

    Here you can view the connection status of your SpotOn Mobile card reader

    1. Tap the Menu button in the upper left corner

    2. Select Settings

    3. Select Signature

    4. Use the Require Signature switch to toggle the Signature requirement On/Off

      • If Require Signature setting is On, select For transactions over $20 or Always

    5. Tap Apply Changes

    6. A pop-up confirmation window will appear

    7. Tap Continue to apply the changes


    Payment Types Settings

    Choose to allow/disallow cash payments.

    4. Use the Cash switch to toggle the requirement On/Off

      • If toggled off, cash payments are not available to customers

    5. Tap Apply Changes

    6. A pop-up confirmation window will appear

    7. Tap Continue to apply the changes

    Card Reader

    1. Press the power button on the carder reader to power it on

    2. On your mobile device, log in to the SpotOn Payments app and follow the prompts to connect to the card reader, or go to Settings, then tap Card Reader

    • If currently paired with a SpotOn Mobile card reader, the serial number of the paired device will display

      • Tap Disconnect Card Reader to disconnect

    • If no device is paired, tap Connect to Card Reader

    When the SpotOn Mobile card reader is paired, you are ready to begin taking payments
    1. at the bottom of the menu

    2. Tap Connect Card Reader from the Card Reader Setup menu

    3. Tap Pair Card Reader… You will be taken to your mobile device’s settings to connect the card reader by pairing to a new Bluetooth device

    4. Tap the serial number displayed (matches the number printed on the back side of the SpotOn Mobile card reader [e.g CHBXXXXXXXXXXXX])

      • If using an Android device, two options may appear with the serial number for your card reader; please select the option that shows the phone icon

    5. Allow the device to connect and configure

    6. The Connected status will appear once complete

    7. Hit X to close out of the menu

    Note: The first time the device is connected to the card reader, it may take a few minutes to pair. Once the device is paired the card reader, it should connect automatically anytime you open the SpotOn Payments app, as long as the card reader is powered on and the Bluetooth is activated on your mobile device.
