In the SpotOn Retail POS, adding products or services to a cart is quick and easy. Whether you are scanning items with the device’s barcode scanner or tapping on common products in the main Register view, you can get your customers rung up in seconds.

This guide will go over the various ways you can use SpotOn Retail POS to create orders.

After all products or services have been added to the cart, the check out process can commence. Click here to view the check out/transactions flow.

Barcode Scanning

First, let’s look at how to scan items by their barcode and add them to an order.

Tip

You may need to give the PAX A920 Pro SpotOn Retail POS permission to use the device’s camera the first time you try to scan an item. Accept this and you’ll be able to use the camera on all future sessions.

  • The scanned item will be added to the cart, and a success banner will display at the top of the screen

  • The terminal will be ready to scan additional items

  1. If you’re not already on the Register screen, tap on Register on the bottom navigation bar

  2. Tap the Scan icon on the top right of the screen

3. On the SpotOn Retail handheld POS, the rear camera will activate and you can aim it at the barcode on the product to scan

  • Once the barcode is scanned and successfully identified, you’ll be taken to the product details for that item

  • On the product details, you can select any applicable variants (things like size and color) and the quantity

  • Tap Add to add the item(s) to the cart

    If an item is accidentally scanned, the user may remove the item by tapping the green x icon in the success banner, or navigate to the cart and manually adjust the contents any time before checkout.

    • In the event that a scanned item cannot be found, this screen will display

      • You will need to select the product from the catalog, manually search, or ring the item up as an open order to complete the sale

    Tapping/Selecting

    Another way to add products or services is by tapping on them from the Register screen.

    1. If you’re not already on the Register screen, tap on Register on the bottom navigation bar

    1. From the drop down menu in the upper left, select Products or Services

    2. Use the Categories menu to locate the desired product or service

    Searching

    One additional way to add products or services is by searching for them from the Register screen.

    2. Tap on the Search icon on the top right

    3. As you type in the product or service you’re searching for, results will update in real-time under the search bar

    4. Tap on the specific product or service you’re looking for in the results to view the details for that item

    6. Tap Add to add the item(s) to the cart
