Order with Google Program Update
Google is making updates to their Order with Google experience on Google Search and Maps to simplify and streamline the ordering experience.
Starting in July, when a user clicks the “Order” button on Google, instead of building a cart and paying on Google, they will now be able to compare ordering options from redirect providers, and link out directly to your preferred ordering platform to complete the transaction.
As part of this transition, Google is focused on building new discovery experiences for Order with Google to increase visibility to more users on Search and Maps.
This transition is occurring slowly, with an increasing % of Google traffic getting the new experience and a decreasing % getting the existing experience throughout August.
What does this mean for users?
Starting in July 2024, when a user clicks the “Order” button on Google, instead of building a cart and paying on Google, they will now only be able to compare ordering options from redirect providers, and link out directly to a platform or merchant’s website to complete the transaction.
What does this mean for reporting?
If you're currently tracking Order with Google sales by specifying an order type for that ordering channel, you will see a slow shift in orders from those order types to your SpotOn Order order types, as Google is slowly rolling out this change throughout July and August.
