Start a Tab FOH Functions

To set up Start a Tab or limit it to specific job positions, please view the needed BOH configuration settings here.

Start a Tab

  1. Once Start a Tab has been enabled in BOH, the Start a Tab function will display in the FOH once a new order is created as well as being available as a Ticket Commands option

Default Tab Amount

  1. When users select the Start a Tab command in FOH, the Default Tab Amount is the minimum total required to use the Start a Tab function

Default Tab Adjustments

  1. When enabled, users can adjust the Default Tab amount when the Start a Tab command function has been selected by using the Default Tab Amount pin pad

Increment as Tab Increases

Increment as Tab Increases - Enabled

  1. If Increment as Tab is enabled in the BOH, items added to the tab in FOH will automatically trigger an authorization on the guest’s payment method to verify funds for that amount are available

  2. From the FOH Payments screen, users can simply select Apply Payment to close out the tab

Increment as Tab Increases - Disabled

  1. When Increment as Tab Increases is disabled in BOH , users can continually add items to a Start a Tab ticket without pre-authorizing a guest’s credit card for each item

Card authorizations will appear on the guest’s bank statements as pending charges, but will drop off after 2-3 business days

2. The card will not be authorized again until the Apply Payment button is selected to close the total amount of the guest’s tab

3. The Closed Ticket will display with the successful authorization confirmation
