SEO Tips

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to a set of steps that help search engines like Google to parse and better recognize your site in order to display it as a relevant search result.

There are numerous steps that one must take for SEO among which are constant business research, regular updates, and high levels of engagement. Because of all the factors that determine SEO and the level of work it requires, it can become expensive to pay for SEO services, especially for small business owners. However, there are some steps you can take to improve your SEO without hurting your pocket.

As part of your SpotOn Website service, we begin laying a foundation for your SEO free of charge with an SSL certificate that ensures your website is secure and trusted by search engines. We also add relevant content to your site and metadata that helps search engines read your website better.

Additionally, you may take the following steps to further improve your SEO.

Create a Google My Business Profile

A Google My Business profile is a great way to help improve your online presence. After setting it up, a business card will be automatically displayed to people who search for you on Google. This card provides integration with Google Reviews, Google Maps, and your SpotOn website so customers can find you faster. It is easy to set up, and the best part… It’s free!

Use Relevant, Industry-Specific Keywords

Information

Examples

Relevant content that relies on industry-specific keywords will boost your SEO.

The more keywords you have in your website, the better SEO you will get. Keywords should include your business name, services, location, and other words potential customers would typically type when looking for your type of business.

They should highlight things that make your business unique, specially if you carry products or services most others in the industry don’t.

Keywords must be a part of paragraph texts and content. Repetitive lists of keywords hidden from view will negatively affect your business.

Fill Out and Update the SEO Metadata on your SpotOn Website

The SpotOn Website Editor contains spaces where you can fill in descriptions to be displayed on search engine results. A description with good keywords will also help your SEO.

Avoid Using Words as Images

Search engines can’t read text on images, so if you have important text or keywords as an image, they will be ignored. If the text contains important keywords, it is better to type it out.

Use the right image size

A site with heavy images will take a long time to load. Loading time is considered by search engines and websites that load faster are given a priority. We recommend using an image compressor to make images smaller if they are not used as a background or banner.

Use Keywords When Naming Images

Have Other Pages Link to Your Page

The more pages that link to your website and the more traffic that comes to your page, the better your SEO. Make sure that you include links to your website in your Facebook Page, Twitter, Instagram, and other Social Media you use.

There are also online listings such as Google My Business Profile, Yelp, and Trip Advisor where you can include your website as a part of your business info.

Some areas will have online local listings and tourism sites recommending businesses. If you know of any in your area, it is a good idea to ask if they can include a link to your website in theirs.
