Barcode Printing FAQs & Basic Troubleshooting

While each computer operating system and web browser combination can vary the printing process, changing the suggested settings below should resolve most printing issues.

Which printer(s) should I use?

SpotOn recommends the DYMO 450 & DYMO 550. However, you can print labels in PDF format from your regular printer. Select your preferred printer. If the printer is successfully connected, it will appear in the drop-down menu.

What should I do if I encounter label alignment issues or degraded barcode readability?

If users are encountering label alignment issues or degraded barcode readability, try using the system dialog in lieu of the browser dialog.

Which label sizes are compatible with my printer?

Please refer to the label size chart at the top of the page.

What do I do if my labels aren’t printing to scale?

Make sure the printer settings are set to scale at 100%. Disable any setting involving Fit to print. If the issue continues, try using the System Print Dialog and printing at 100% to scale. If 100% does not work for your printer, reducing the % may solve the issue.

What is the output resolution?

The default output resolution is 300 DPI.

What drivers do I need to download?

Ensure all drivers have been downloaded for your compatible printer. View the Dymo driver list.

What UPCs can I print?

UPCs must be 8-14 digits for all items requiring a printed barcode.

My Windows PC is having trouble printing my labels. How do I fix this?

SpotOn recommends downloading the Adobe Acrobat Reader if it’s not already installed on the PC. After creating the labels, Save the labels to your hard drive as a PDF file first in lieu of printing them directly. Open the PDF file using the Adobe Acrobat Reader and print them, using the appropriate barcode labels as outlined in the section above.
