PIN Debit & EBT FAQs
What’s the difference between ‘PIN Debit’ and ‘Debit’?
PIN Debit transactions require the customer to enter a personal identification number (PIN). Some debit cards have card issuer logos (for instance, Visa) and those can be run as credit cards.
How do I enable PIN Debit in the Retail point-of-sale app?
To start accepting Pin Debit, you’ll need to request it during your sign up period or call SpotOn Support to request it. Once the SpotOn team enables it for your account, you’ll want to refresh the point-of-sale so it shows up during checkout.
On the Retail point-of-sale app: Go to Store -> Location -> Re-select your location. Once that’s complete, you should see Debit as an option during checkout.
How do I enable EBT in the Retail point-of-sale app?
To start accepting EBT, you’ll need to request it during your sign up period or call SpotOn Support to request it. Once the SpotOn team enables it for your account, you’ll want to refresh the point-of-sale so it shows up during checkout.

Can I specify which products are eligible for EBT?
Currently, there is no way to identify products that are or are not eligible for EBT. It is up to the client’s discretion whether or not an order can be paid for with an EBT card.
How does dual pricing work for PIN Debit and EBT payments?
Any cash discounts, if configured, are automatically applied to EBT transactions.
