SpotOn Counter Transactions

Items rung on the paired Restaurant POS station will be shown live on the SpotOn Counter device.

Accepting Credit Card Transactions for the First Time

If the device is accepting credit card payments for the first time, permission to access the USB device (EMV payment device) will be prompted.

  1. Begin with a penny test transaction to receive the dialog prompt “Allow the app SpotOn Counter to access the USB device?”

  2. Select “Use by default for this USB device”, then tap “OK”

This must be done before the SpotOn Counter goes live

When the user navigates to the Payment screen on the Paired Restaurant POS station, the Payment summary will be shown on the right-hand side of the Counter app

When payment is applied on the Restaurant POS station, the customer will be prompted for Tip Amount, with an option to cancel. (Cancelling gives control back to the Restaurant POS cashier to change payment type, for example).

When tip is selected, and total due confirmed, the guest will select “Confirm & Pay”

The guest will be prompted to insert their credit card. (They will still have an option to cancel at this time.)

After payment is processed, the customer is presented with a sign screen. Once the signature process is complete, the customer should select “Done”.

If the customer ignores the signature screen, and does not complete the process within 10 seconds, the process will auto-complete to prevent delay.

The Thank you and farewell screen is displayed, and payment is applied to the order.

If any break in communication between the Counter device and the Restaurant POS station occurs between when payment is taken, and when it is applied to the order, the payment will be applied automatically in the background once connection is restored.
